Tucker Batters Strohl to take USBO Light Heavyweight Title in Westminster !

Westminster, MD – Buoyed by a standing room only crowd at the Shipley Arena, Mark “TNT” Tucker improved his professional ledger to 12-0 (7 KO’s) after a dominant unanimous decision victory over Las Vegas’ Jim “Steel Chin” Strohl 27-8 (21 KO’s). Supported chants of “TNT, TNT”, Tucker got off to a fast start by staggering Strohl in the opening round with hard 1-2 combinations.

Tucker opened up a cut under Strohl’s eye with a straight left hand in the fifth and continued to have success while boxing from a distance. The bloody Strohl lived up to his billing, as he continued to press forward throughout the contest while managing to stay on his feet after being stunned on multiple occasions. Scores were 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92 for Tucker, who took home the USBO Light Heavyweight title with the victory.

In the co-featured bout of the evening, Tyrell “Da Show Shocka” Samuel of Baltimore, MD earned unanimous decision victory over tough Philadelphia based Panamanian Gustavo Dailey. The majority of the bout took place in close quarters, with Samuel’s defensive movement and straight right hand counter shots leading the way. Dailey had moments of success and made all of the rounds competitive but Samuel’s quickness and ability to avoid Dailey’s punches guided him to the victory. Scores were 80-72, 7973 and 78-74. Samuel improved to 13-3 (6 KO’s) while Dailey drops to 4-6 (1 KO).

Junior Middleweights Jamar “Da Truth” Freeman 4-0-2 (1 KO) of North Carolina and Manuel Guzman 6-8-2 (2 KO’s) of Lancaster, PA battled to a four round draw. The volume punching Freeman had most of his success boxing and moving from the outside while Guzman’s best shots came in close range. Scores were 40-36 Freeman and 38-38 twice.

Former top rated amateur Emmanuel “Transformer” Taylor moved to 3-0 (3 KO’s) after demolishing Washington Heights, NY native Amaury Torres 4-10-2 (1 KO) in the opening round of their Junior Welterweight bout. Taylor quickly had Torres on the canvas with a picture perfect overhand right then continued his onslaught, dropping his opponent twice more with left hooks. Following the third knockdown, referee Gary Camponeschi halted the contest at 2:49.

In the opening bout of the evening, Baltimore Middleweight Omar Sims scored a unanimous decision over Frederick MD’s Allen Perkins. Perkins aggressive style gave Sims little room to operate but the lanky Baltimorean used his reach advantage to outland his opponent. Scores were 40-36 and 39-37 twice. The win moves Sims to 3-1-2 (1 KO) while Perkins falls to 1-1.
