Two-time World Boxing
Association (WBA) heavyweight champion John “The
Quietman” Ruiz did exactly what he was supposed to
do tonight in Germany, stopping former IBU
title-holder Adnan “Aachen Assassin” Serin, to set
the stage for a 2010 world title fight against new
WBA champion David “Hayemaker” Haye.
WBA No. 1 contender
Ruiz (44-8-1, 29 KOs) had agreed with the promoters
for defending champion Nicolai Valuev and challenger
Haye to “step aside” as the WBA “Official
Challenger." Ruiz, provided he defeated Serin
(19-11-1, 7 KOs), was guaranteed a title bout
against the Valuev-Haye winner by the end of May,
2010. Haye defeated Valuev by a 12-round majority
decision.
Ruiz, the first and
only world heavyweight champion of Latino heritage,
fought for the first time in 14 months and at his
lightest weight (226) in six years. Fighting for the
first time with head trainer/cutman Miguel Diaz in
his corner, Ruiz displayed a much more aesthetically
pleasing, aggressive style – no holding, clutching
or grabbing.
Ruiz outclassed Serin
from the opening bell until Serin’s corner threw in
the towel at 1:34 of the seventh round. John came
out strong, using a stiff jab to set-up punishing
rights to Serin’s body, but “The Quietman” suffered
a cut to his forehead, near the bridge of his nose,
from an apparent head-butt in the fourth round. Ruiz
picked up the pace, hurting Serin in the sixth, and
unloaded six straight damaging right hands to
Serin’s head, leading to an 8-count in the seventh.
Four more rights resulted in the referee halting the
action, after a towel was thrown into the ring from
Serin’s cornerman.

Donovan
George Annihilates Naugler!
By:
Cestus Press
Cestus Management's
super middleweight destroyer Don "Da'Bomb" George
made the leap from boxing prospect to being on the
verge of becoming a world-class contender with a
four round savage annihilation of Canadian Jason
Naugler; handing this tough and very experienced
fighter his first loss byway of stoppage. Coming
into the contest, Naugler previously had twenty-nine
fights and has gone the distance in very creditable
performances against Chad Dawson, Jean Paul
Mendy,Anthony Thompson, , Jesse Brinkley, Samuel
Miller and Nicholas Poulard. The fight was the main
event of a card promoted by Leon Margules and
Dominic Pesoli at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago ,
Illinois .
George (18-0-1 w/16kos)
showed impressive boxing skills and a snappy jab as
he constantly peppered the experienced Naugler face
and body. Naugler, attempting to overcome speed,
power, and youth with experience, came out fast at
the openinig bell and to everybody's surprise tried
to box by jabing and moving and throwing fast
combinations. Nauglers attempt to box George was to
no avail, as George was out jabbing and countering
all of Naugler's punches with fast and powerful
combination's to both the head and body.
Naugler tasted the
canvas in the second round with a pulverizing short
fast right hand to the head that stiffened Naugler
and then turned his legs to jelly where he fell
heavily to the canvas face first. To his credit
Naugler got up and barely made it through the round
being saved by the bell, the crowd in attendance
roared as they could feel that their hometown boy
was well on his way to a fantastic finish.
The third round saw
George show a lot of maturity by sticking to his
game plan by countering Naugler, using a very hard
left jab and fast crisp shots that where stopping
Naugler in his tracks and sistematically breaking
him down and busting him up.
In the fourth round,
George upped his aggression and continued to punish
Naugler; ripping power shots to the body and head.
Naugler was brave but outgunned as George was
merciless in his attack. The end came in brutal
fashion as George landed hellacious shots and was
savagely battering the Canadian which caused referee
Gino Rodriguez to call a halt to the massacre.
Cestus Mangement CEO
Gina Iacovou, said, "I am very happy as this is
really a great win for Donovan. Naugler is known to
be a tough a durable guy. Just look at his record as
he has gone the distance with current world
champions and world rated contenders."
Cestus Advisor, Mike Michael, said, "What a win and
what a performance by Donovan! This is the kind of
statement that he (George) needed to make against
such an experienced and durable fighter like Naugler"
Michael added, 2010 is going to be a phenomenal year
for Donovan.

Casal
vs. Fernandez at Buffalo Niagara Convention Center
Promoter Nick Garone and his X-Cel Worldwide have
announced most of the opponents for their November 6
"Road to Redemption" event at the Buffalo Niagara

In the main event, hometown hero Nick "Hands of
Gold" Casal (19-4-1, 15 KOs) will face Salt Lake
City's Christopher "Kid Kayo" Fernandez (18-7-1, 11
KOs) in an eight-round super lightweight showdown.
Fernandez has had mixed success as he's stepped
up his competition, but recently went the distance
with highly rated former junior welterweight
champion Paulie Malignaggi.
"The
first time Nick fought on one of my shows, it was
just to get him back in the ring and back to the

represents the next step in our plans," explained
Garone. "He's a tough kid who's gone some rounds

International Boxing Organization junior
welterweight title-holder Manny Pacquiao will have
60 days to decide whether he’ll defend or relinquish
his championship, according to a Wednesday statement
from IBO President Ed Levine.
The IBO is the only sanctioning body to recognize
Pacquiao as a world champion.
“Manny Pacquiao was notified that he will be
given time to decide whether to defend his
championship at 140 pounds or vacate the title,”
Levine said. “He is still well within his time
requirements to make a title defense in the weight
class. So, we’ll allow him a chance to decide and
notify us.”
Levine released the statement in response to
several inquiries about Pacquiao’s title status.
Pacquiao won the IBO belt from then-champion
Ricky Hatton in May and is scheduled to meet Miguel
Cotto in a welterweight bout in Las Vegas on Nov.
14.
According to IBO rules, “all champions, with the
exception of the heavyweight champion, shall defend
their title at least once every nine months unless
medically excused therefrom for valid cause and/or
at the sole and absolute discretion of the IBO.”
Now 32 years old, Pacquiao is 49-3-2 with 37
knockouts and is unbeaten since a decision loss to
Erik Morales in 2005.
He has one previous fight at welterweight – a TKO
over Oscar De La Hoya in December 2008 – and has
also competed at least once in every weight class
from junior flyweight (108 pounds) to lightweight
(135 pounds) since turning professional in 1995.
The win over Hatton was his first appearance in
an IBO championship bout.
Should Pacquiao elect to vacate his title, Levine
said the championship would be filled by a
subsequent bout between the top two available
contenders. Pacquiao is No. 1 in the organization’s
computerized rankings for October, while ex-champion
Hatton is No. 2.
Unbeaten Russian prospect Denis Shafikov is the
IBO Intercontinental champion at 140 and a likely
contender if the title were to become vacant.
About IBO
From its inception, the IBO's mandate has been to
bring honesty, integrity and trust to boxing. The
record shows that it’s been – and continues to be –
successful.
That's why world class talent like Lennox Lewis,
Wladimir Klitschko, Ricky Hatton, Chad Dawson, Manny
Pacquiao and so many others have been proud to wear
IBO title belts. And that’s why the IBO's objective,
comprehensive computerized rankings remain the most
reliable and honest in the sport.
When you
associate with the IBO, you send a message to
boxing. It's a statement of your commitment to
maintaining credibility in the greatest, purest
contest of human ability in the world. "The Champion

Paul Marinaccio in his last bout.
Tomasz
Adamek knocked out Andrew Golota in a 5 round fight
that proved Adamek has what it takes to be a top
contender in the heavyweight arena. Here’s what was
said at the post fight interviews.
From Tomasz Adamek:
I will never forget this moment, fighting in front
of almost 17 thousand Polish fans against a Polish
legend that went through many great battles. It was
a meaningful night for me.”
“By beating Andrew
Golota I made a statement about my power. I wanted
to show how good I can be as a heavyweight. I got
hit couple of times pretty hard, but I was never in
danger. Looks like my iron chin will work for me in
a higher weight class also.”
“I never treat any
fight as something personal and it was the same this
time. I did not plan to knock Golota out, it was not
my intention. After the first knockdown, I knew I
could hit him at will. I paced myself in round 2 and
3, waiting for the right moment to up my tempo.
Andrew Gmitruk was telling me to not get too cocky.
I remembered this every minute I was in the ring. It
was not easy win, regardless of the outcome. I had
to be careful not to get hit by this powerful 260
pound man. It worked.”
“I hope I proved
tonight to everybody, that I can be 215 pounds and
be effective as a heavyweight. But my foes in the
cruiserweight division should not be too happy yet.
If the major television outlets will offer great
fights, I will be back and knock out those guys
too.”
Asked about future plans; “I will go back to the
U.S. in couple of days, maybe enjoy myself for
couple of weeks and then eagerly await the next
challenge. It’s in my nature not to be lazy for too
long. I love my home, wife and two daughters, but
after a while I miss the ring. I want to thank
everybody who believed in my skills and
determination. I never had a doubt about the outcome
of this fight. I want also to thank Andrzej for
accepting this fight. He helped me realize my dream
of becoming a heavyweight”.

FIGHT REPORT
Gomez rocks
Perez in a huge stunner
Press Release: October
21, 2009
After more than a year
of inactivity, two time former IBF world champ Luis
Perez (25-4, 16 kos) returned to action in his home
country of Nicaragua against fellow countryman
Sergio Gomez (14-5, 10 kos). What was supposed to be
a welcome back party for Perez soon turned into a
nightmare as a highly motivated Gomez took the
action straight to Perez.
Gomez, a former three
time Central American amateur champ, showed signs of
his potential by putting on a boxing clinic. Perez
had no answer for Gomez jab, straight lead right and
left hook combinations. His lateral movement and
smart boxing left Perez without any answers.
After losing the first
round, Perez came back with fury evening up the
score in round two. From then on it was all downhill
for Perez as Gomez started connecting sharp
combinations to the head. The fight was stopped
after four rounds by referee Enrique Portocarrero
after witnessing the destruction a series of
straight rights hands created over the eyelids of
Perez.
It was Perez first
fight since his unsuccessful bid to become a
champion in three different weight classes when he
lost against Panamanian fighter Ricardo Cordoba in
an attempt to gain the interim WBA super
bantamweight title. Clearly the lack of activity
hurt Perez as he was out of distance, had no
reflexes and looked clumsy at times, much different
than the Perez who made various defenses of his
world title.
The Perez vs. Gomez
fight can be seen courtesy of Nicaraguan promotion
company PRODESA at: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/2374768
The full fight card will be transmitted at a soon to
be announced date for the whole world via
specialized boxing fight site:
www.gofightlive.tv
Joseph,
why are you so confident you’re going to win this
fight by knockout?
AGBEKO: “I’m so
confident because Yonnhy Perez is a good fighter. He
can come forward, he can go backward. Fighting a
very good fighter is always difficult. It makes you
work harder. Yonnhy Perez can definitely not stay in
there with me. He’s definitely going to get
stopped.”
What did the win
over Silence Mabuza do for your confidence?
PEREZ: “Of course it
was a boost of confidence, but one thing that
everyone needs to be aware of is that my confidence
didn’t come just from that fight. I have my
confidence in my preparation and I’m confident every
time I step in the ring, no matter who I’m facing.
Beating Mabuza was a great deal for me, but I had
confidence in my power and my ability even before I
stepped in the ring, and the same thing is going to
happen on Oct. 31.”
Yonnhy, what do you
think about Agbeko’s prediction of a knockout?
PEREZ: “I’m ready for
any type of battle to happen in the ring. I don’t
want to make a prediction of my own, but as far as
what Agbeko said coming into this fight and
predicting a knockout, it’s OK. That’s why I live in
this country, there’s freedom of speech. He can say
whatever he wants about any issue. I’ve traveled to
Africa, and I know how the fighters of that
continent are. I know they can talk more than what
they can actually do in the ring. He shouldn’t spit
up in the air because all that’s going to fall right
on his face.”
Where you impressed
with his performance against Darchinyan?
PEREZ: “I wasn’t really
impressed. I was actually a little bit disappointed.
I thought that being the bigger man he should have
been able to handle him a little bit better. It’s
like me moving up to 122 or 126 and trying to beat a
bigger man, which, in reality, it doesn’t work that
way. So, I was not that impressed. “
Are you planning on
impressing Yonnhy?
AGBEKO:
“This fight is going to be an enjoyable fight for
me. I’m a confident fighter and I really enjoy it
when I fight another confident fighter. It’s going
to be a very enjoyable fight for me.”

The Super Six World Boxing Classic got off to a
scintillating start in Europe on Saturday night. At
the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham , England ,
hometown hero Carl “The Cobra” Froch defended his
World Boxing Council (WBC) title against Andre “The
Matrix” Dirrell of Flint , Michigan by
split-decision. In Berlin, at the famed o2 World
Arena, “King” Arthur Abraham treated his hometown
fans to a spectacular final-round knockout victory
of Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor.
Froch (26-0, 20 KOs) remained undefeated Saturday
night in front of a sold-out crowd when he handed
Dirrell (19-0, 13 KOs ) the first loss of his
professional career. In a close fight all the way
through, Froch received a leg up when referee Hector
Afu took a point away from Dirrell for clinching
after repeated warnings in the 10th round.
Dirrell
and Froch continued to work and exchange through
rounds 11 and 12, catching each other with solid

Former Cruiserweight Champ Scores Thrilling TKO2

Former Heavyweight Champ Shannon "The Cannon"
Briggs' Fight KO'd by Opponent's Vision Trouble
Former world cruiserweight champion Vasiliy "The
Tiger" Jirov (38-3-1, 32 KOs) made a successful
return to the ring Saturday night against
hard-punching spoiler Jonathan Williams... but, as
is always the case with Jirov, not without a few
moments of suspense.
Fighting in the main event of Neworld Promotions
debut event, Jirov had to climb off the canvas from
a flash knockdown in round one to drop Williams
three times in round two and earn the TKO.
"Vasiliy can't be in a bad fight," said relieved
manager Ivaylo Gotzev, afterward. "There was a flash
knockdown, but all it did was put Vasiliy back in
the right state of mind to go for the kill. The shot
he got hit with was his welcome back to the fight
game. In the second round, Vasiliy showed that "The
Tiger" is truly back."
Jirov, who is once again campaigning as a
cruiserweight, says he will stay busy in the
upcoming year to help him regain his sharpness.
In what was to be the main supporting bout,
former lineal and WBO Heavyweight Champion Shannon
Briggs (48-5-1, 42 KOs) had his comeback fight
against New Mexico's Arron Lyons called off when
Lyons failed the pre-fight medical exam.
Gotzev
says he will be announcing both former champions'
next appearances in the near future.

Latest Update
on
Olszewski!
By
David Selwyn: October 9, 2009
Eileen "The
Hawaiian Mongoose " Olszewski, the current and
reigning WIBA Flyweight Champion has recovered from
some nagging injuries and is ready and willing to
defend her WIBA World Flyweight. Eileen traveled
last December to Nadia Raoui's own backyard and
fought Ms. Raoui to a draw.
Team Olszewski tried in
vain to give Ms. Raoui a rematch. Ms. Raoui's German
promoter Mr. Dietmar Berg did not negotiate in good
faith .Mr. Ryan Wissow, the WIBA president was the
supervisor for the first fight between Olszewski and
Raoui. For the rematch, Mr. Berg told Ryan Wissow to
stay home and he would have Mr. Mirko Skoko on site
in Vienna, Austria, for the fight set for the 3rd of
October to supervise the fight and choose the
judges. Team Olszewski had no idea who Mr. Skoko
was---Now we do.
He is a boxing promoter
who lives in Germany and is [listed as the manager
of Nadia Raoui's last opponent, Fleis Djendi for the
"prestigious" vacant WPBO [World Pro Boxing
Organisation] flyweight Title.
Mr. Berg also put in a
clause in the contract for the rematch, that we do
not think anyone would agree to and we quote, "If
Ms. Olszewski does not fight in Vienna then Ms.
Olszewski pays a contract penalty of 10,000 Euro
dollars." We thought this clause was totally absurd.
We told Mr. Berg if he wants to have everything his
way, then he would have to go to Burger King!
Eileen would like to
defend her title as soon as possible. We are trying
to fight in NYC, but there have been very few boxing
Cards in Manhattan , NY. Eileen won her WIBA title
from Elena "Baby Doll "Reid in Manhattan on 2/28/08
and had a large contingent of her fans there. If
anyone knows of an upcoming boxing card in
Manhattan, please contact Eileen's manager David
Selwyn at Boxing @msn.com or call his 24/7 Boxing
Hotline at 845-893-2829 We are more than willing to
do whatever is necessary to defend the WIBA

Former "The Contender" star Eric "Dynamite" Vega
doesn't believe in taking the easy road.
That's why on October
17, when he climbs into the ring at the Celebrity
Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona, for his first fight
since appearing on the show, it will be against

Fighting in one of the
main supporting bouts of Neworld Promotions "Phoenix
Rising" event, that also features the comebacks of
former world champions Vasiliy Jirov and Shannon
Briggs, Vega (8-4-1, 6 KOs) will be taking on one of
the toughest opponents of his career in front of his
hometown Phoenix fans.
"We spoke to Eric about
taking such a tough opponent for his first fight
since the show and he was adamant that's what he
wanted," explained Neworld Promotions chief Les
Cohen. "I'm not complaining. Whenever you have two
guys with that much power in there, it always makes
for an entertaining fight as long as it lasts."
Two of Vega's four
losses came during competition of The Contender. He
avenged another of his losses by stopping JJ
McAllister in May of 2008.
"We believe in Eric and
his willingness to challenge himself is a big reason
why," added Cohen.
The main event that
night will feature former cruiserweight champion and

Booth Faces Hunter
Challenge October 16
In the prime of a
long and storied career, Jason Booth now faces the
highest hurdle of his professional life.
The sharp-punching 31 year old Nottingham stylist
meets former triple champion Michael Hunter on enemy
ground at the Seaburn Centre in Sunderland, England
on a Frank Maloney promotion on Friday, October 16.
Booth, 33-5 (13), will place his British super
bantam belt at risk against Hunter and the occasion
will mark the 17th time that "2Smooth" has
participated in a high-level title bout.
But his opponent on October 16 can brag as to
having already held the European crown that Booth
covets
Southpaw Hunter, 29-1-1 (13), who also boasts of
British and Commonwealth belts in his trophy
cabinet, made three successful defenses of the
Continental strap during his eight month reign of
2005-2006.
So unstoppable was the lanky Hartlepool threshing
machine that it took one of the top super bantams in
the world, Canada's Steve Molitor, to derail
Hunter's unbeaten run in an IBF title fight in late
2006.
The challenge posed by Hunter is significant but
Booth possesses perhaps the best boxing skills in
the UK and vows to put on a career best performance
before moving onto European level.
Frank Maloney's FTM Sports presents the Super

Predictions for Arreola
vs Klitschko
Compiled By Dave Wilcox
This Saturday night at Staples
Center in Downtown Los Angeles, history can be made if
Riverside, California’s own Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola
can pull the upset of a lifetime and snatch the WBC
Heavyweight belt from defending champion, Vitali “Dr.
Ironfist” Klitschko. The eldest Klitschko is a heavy
favorite in this one, and deservedly so. Arreola has shown
the propensity to come into fights overweight and if he does
it this time, the always in condition “Dr Ironfist” will
make him sorry he did.
I
personally saw Chris Arreola up close and personal ringside
while covering the August 1st bout between Timothy Bradley
vs. Nate Campbell for www.talkinboxing.com and believe me,
he was horrendously out of shape.. All reports this week
during the local workouts and at media events have Arreola
in great shape. There is always a first time for everything

Tucker
Batters Strohl to take USBO 175LBS Title!

unanimous decision victory over Las Vegas’ Jim “Steel Chin” Strohl 27-8 (21 KO’s). Supported chants of “TNT, TNT”,
Tucker got off to a fast start by staggering Strohl in the
opening round with hard 1-2 combinations.
Tucker opened up a cut under Strohl’s eye with a straight
left hand in the fifth and continued to have success while

MONEY REPORT
FLOYD "MONEY" MAYWEATHER;
KING OF PAY-PER-VIEW
Numbers don't lie, and the report today that Floyd "Money"
Mayweather's highly anticipated comeback fight on Saturday,
Sept. 19 was seen in over one million homes on HBO
Pay-Per-View®, cements the elite pugilist and cross-over
superstar's status as the biggest attraction in boxing, and one
of the highest grossing stars ever in the sport's history.
Mayweather, who returned to boxing after a 21-month layoff,
delivered a masterful performance against the number two
pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Juan Manuel Marquez,
reminding those ringside and watching from home that he still is
the best in the world.
"I am
truly humbled by the numbers, and I appreciate all of the sports
fans who either came to the fight or bought it on pay-per-view,"
said Mayweather. "It felt great to be back in the ring and next
time I will be even better."
"These
pay-per-view figures show exactly what Floyd brings to the table
when he steps into the ring," said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of
Mayweather Promotions. "The fans wanted to see Floyd's return to
the sport and an incredible number of them tuned in to see him.
He put on a special performance."
Mayweather's record breaking run, which began in 2007 with his
mega-fight against Oscar de la Hoya, may finally silence his
critics. In his last three bouts, Mayweather has delivered a
record shattering total of nearly 4.4 million pay-per-view homes
and over $300 million in revenue combined. His dominance in the
ring on Saturday, in which he showed off an array of power,
speed, intelligence, and phenomenal defense, proved that
Mayweather has not lost a step and still is the best in the
sport. There is no doubt that Mayweather has his sights set even
higher with countless potential mega-fights on the horizon.
Mayweather continued, "I returned to boxing to fight the best,
and that's what I intend to do."

PREDICTION
RODRIGUEZ LIKES ARREOLA’S CHANCES
SATURDAY VS. KLITSCHKO
“Niño” rooting for fellow
Mexican-American heavyweight, calls him “pioneer”
Undefeated El Paso heavyweight
David "Niño" Rodriguez thinks fellow undefeated Mexican-American
contender Chris Arreola has what it takes to defeat WBC
heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko this weekend at the
Staples Center in Los Angeles .
“If Klitschko thinks he is going to
issue a boxing lesson and avoid fighting him, I think he’s
wrong,” Rodriguez said. “Chris is definitely a hard puncher, and
a real rugged heavyweight. He comes in and slips punches well,
too. He is definitely a tough, Mexican fighter who comes
straight for you and likes to mix it up. I don’t know, if at 38
years old, Klitschko has the ability to keep this young
28-year-old guy off of him.”
An Arreola victory would make the
Riverside, Calif. native the first heavyweight champion of
Mexican-American descent. And Rodriguez will be rooting for him.
“I honestly wish Chris the best,”
Rodriguez said. “I do feel that he is a pioneer for Mexican
heavyweights. I have no doubt that I will get to the heavyweight
championship one day. But he got there first, and I want him to
succeed.”
Rodriguez, 32-0 with 30 knockouts
(25 in the first round), is two weeks removed from a riveting
third-round destruction of veteran Robert Davis in Monterrey,
Mexico. Although he suffered a bizarre cut on his finger — from
a tooth that he knocked out of Davis’ mouth — Rodriguez said the
wound is healing nicely. He is expected to get back to work
soon.
“I can’t wait to get back in the
gym,” said “Niño,” who is hoping to fight one more time in 2009.
