undefeated and undisputed middleweight champion

America. Pavlik defeated Taylor handily in their
rematch in February 2008 to solidify his claim as
one of boxing’s top pound for pound fighters and has
since had three successful defenses, all by

Martinez (44-2-2, 24 KOs), a native of Argentina who fights out of Madrid, Spain, first made his presence known to the boxing world in 2007 by knocking out Saul Roman (27-2) in the fourth round of their WBC super welterweight title elimination bout. One year later, Martinez captured the WBC interim super welterweight title with an eighth-round stoppage of Alex Bunema. He was elevated to WBC world super welterweight champion in the latter half of 2009. calling for a 60-40 percentage split. “They approached us
with a $1 million offer for Valuev to face Vitali,
and Sauerland Event and I told them we would like $4
million for the fight,” King said. “Now they’ve come
back to us with a $2 million guarantee. We countered
with a 60-40 split of revenue. “K2 is making the money
more important than the attraction. They are
promoting the money while I promote the attraction.
The attraction recoups your investment and leads to
profit. People-wise and money-wise, this is the way
you have to think—and people-wise is the most
important.” King said he and
Sauerland Event, on behalf of Valuev, are convinced
that K2 Promotions, on behalf of Vitali Klitschko,
are focusing on obtaining Valuev for the lowest
amount of money when they should be focusing on
auctioning the ability to host the event and
television rights to the highest bidders. “If K2 Promotions auctions off the rights to become the host site for this extravaganza as well as television rights to Germany, Russia and Ukraine, we believe that alone will bring in over $10 million,” King said. The two superstars lock horns in the second round of this unprecedented boxing tournament,with Kessler eager to make up for his opening loss against Andre Ward. The WBC Champ Carl Froch comes off a split decision victory over Andre Dirrell. “With the support of my great Danish fans, I will defeat Carl Froch and become world champion again,” Kessler said. “The atmosphere at MCH Herning is incredible. I only have the best of memories of the venue. The TKO victory over Perdomo last September confirmed my place in the Super Six. After a bad start, I am now out for a knock-out and the first three points..” Froch is concerned that the date change will affect his travelling fans. “I am upset for my fans with the change of date but this has been unpreventable due to scheduling issues. I just hope that my fans will understand this change and will still come in their thousands to support me in Herning. Golden Boy Defends UBO Title March 7
This was confirmed recently by UBO All-Africa Commissioner Emmanuel Mlundwa. Matumla will fight former African champion, and current Ugandan titlist, Sande Kizito who is coming off four straight knockout victories. Kizito, 12-8-1 (5), will be the underdog entering the ring, but will find encouragement from his recent activity and from looking back at good performances against world class names such as Vic Darchinyan, Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat and Hussein Hussein. The reigning champion won the UBO title in December 2009 when he stopped another Ugandan, Festus Omondi, in the fifth round of a cracking fight promoted by Joseph Kusaga and his Prime Time Promotions. Mundine Foregoes IBO Title Fight
Mundine had been scheduled to meet Robert Medley for the IBO’s vacant 154-pound championship on Jan. 11 in Sydney, but the fight – if held at all – will no longer be for the IBO belt and is more likely to be fought at middleweight, Levine said. A Jan. 6 report in the Sydney Morning Herald cited Mundine's displeasure with the IBO stemming from review of his May defeat of Daniel Geale for the organization’s 160-pound title – which Mundine relinquished upon requesting sanction for the 154-pound bout with Medley. Levine, however, said it’s more likely Mundine's decision is based on other factors. “Our opinion is that Mundine's current failure to honor his contractual obligations to the IBO and Medley are purely based on his inability to make the weight and/or his reluctance to accept two international officials and the costs attendant to putting on a world title fight,” Levine said. Mundine defeated Geale by split decision to win the IBO middleweight belt. According to Levine, an appeal to the IBO from Geale's management resulted in a review of the bout by three “senior IBO judges,” which then resulted in a narrow split decision opinion in Geale's favor. Some reports, including the Sydney Morning Herald’s, erroneously indicated that a unanimous decision in Geale's direction after the review would have mandated the original decision be overturned. “That is total nonsense and completely incorrect. The IBO would never overturn an official result,” Levine said. “What was said by the IBO is that if the three appeals judges ‘unanimously and clearly by a wide margin’ scored the bout for Geale, title recognition could be withdrawn or an immediate rematch ordered. “A mere close unanimous re-scoring of the contest would have led to Geale being made a mandatory fight for Mundine. Effectively, the close re-scoring getting a narrow split decision to Geale resulted in the same decision, a mandatory position for Geale but not in an immediate and direct rematch. Mundine was given the opportunity for an intervening optional defense.” Levine said fights will be scheduled soon to fill the vacancies at 154 and 160 pounds.

Middleweight Champion Sebastian Sylvester will be
counting on the ferocious support of his home fans
in Neubrandenburg when he takes on Billy Lyell in
his first title defence on Saturday night. The
American is a late replacement for Pablo Navascues,
who failed a random training drug test. “Preparing
for a new opponent on short notice is no problem for
Sebastian,” said coach Karsten Rower. “We have
watched tapes of Lyell. His style is similar to the
guys we had in sparring. Sebastian will be
well-prepared and he will definitely defend his
title.” 
Iran
“The Blade” Barkley is a five-time world champion
who made his name with a third round knockout win
over Thomas Hearns in Las Vegas in 1988. Before he
fought Hearns, the champion’s trainer Emanuel
Steward knew Barkley had the attitude to be
dangerous. “He’s not that skillful, but he just
don’t give a damn”. Sure enough, battered and on the
brink of defeat, Barkley found the right hand to
drop Hearns on his back. Seconds after regaining his
feet, Hearns was rescued by the referee. Four years
later, Barkley became the only man to defeat Hearns
twice, when he out pointed him over 12 rounds to win
the WBA Light heavyweight title. This victory also
made Barkley a member of an elite group of fighters
who have won world titles in three separate weights.
With
the confirmation that Manny Pacquiao will continue
campaigning at Welterweight, the IBO will go forward
and open the Junior Welterweight division which will
be contested by the two leading available
contenders. 
This
Friday, fast rising undefeated jr. middleweight
Demetrius Andrade (8-0, 6KO) will look to open up
the new year with a bang when he takes on tough
Mexican native Bernardo Guereca (15-9-1, 3KO) at the
Laredo Civic Center in Laredo, TX. Andrade- Guereca
