“Heat Wave” live professional boxing was held at Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, Connecticut and was promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports (CES) in association with Global Boxing Promotions. This event featured two championship bouts. The first, a 12 round fight for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) International heavyweight title featuring Kevin McBride vs. Mariusz Wach. Wach brought the polish fans with him tonight. At one point I forgot I was in America. There were so many polish flags in the audience. At one point, I was asked to walk into the ring and proudly carry the polish flag, what an honor that was.
Before the fight Wach stated via his interpreter Nasia Niedzwiecka “This is the most important fight in my life and the biggest challenge but I’m 100% ready. I’m gonna win this fight. I have to win this fight. It’s now or never. I do it for my little son, Olivier.”
Now imagine this, you have two very large individuals, they both have to be over 6 feet tall and weigh way over 235 + pounds each. Mcbride weighed in at 296 pounds and Wach 245.5 pounds. During round 4 of 12 Wach landed a devastating right hook and sent McBride out on a stretcher. What a KO that was. Wach now 25-0-0 is now the new World Boxing Council (WBC) International heavyweight champ and Mcbride deceases his record to 35-10-1.
After the fight Wach stated via his interpreter Nasia Niedzwiecka “I’m grateful of the outcome of tonight’s fight. Kevin is a strong fighter. I planned to knock him out in 6 or 7 round and I’m happy that I was able to do this earlier. I’m very grateful for my coach, for the entire team. I was so happy to see the polish crowd, the fans were amazing.”
The second main event fight consisted of a 10 round fight for the vacant WBC United States National Boxing Council (USNBC) middleweight title battle between Elvin Ayala of New Haven, Connecticut vs. Derrick Findley of Gary, Indiana. Both fighters traded punches throughout the fight. In the end the judges scored the fight 97-92, 96-93, 96-93 making Ayala (24-5-1) the new WBC United States National Boxing Council (USNBC) middleweight champ and Fendley’s record now drops down to 18-6-0.

8 Round Light Middleweights Jose Antonio Rivera (41-6-1) vs. Paul Mpendo (7-8-4). Rivera won by unanimous decision.
4 Round Heavyweights Artur Spzilka (7-0-0) vs. David Williams (6-5-1). Spzilka won by KO 1 min, 53 seconds into Round 1.
6 Round Super Middleweights Thomas Falowo (4-0-0) vs. Russ Niggemyer (2-3-0). Falowo won by KO 40 seconds into Round 2.
6 Round Super Middleweights Keith Kozlin (6-2-1) vs Reynaldo Rodriguez (5-2-1). Majority Draw.
4 Round Super Middleweights Greg McCoy (3-3-1) vs. Ralph Johnson (0-2-0). Winner Mccoy. Judges score cards read: 38-36, 38-36 and 38-37.
4 Round Welterweights Edwin Soto (7-0-1) vs. Michael Denby (3-12-4). Soto wins by TKO 2 min 26 seconds in Round 3.
4 Round Junior Welterweights Jonathan Vazquez (4-0-1) vs. Agustine Mauras (1-0-1). Majority Draw.
4 Round Heavyweights Jose Torres (0-1-0) vs. Pedro Rivera ) vs. Josh Harris 8-5-0). Harris wins 2 min. 23 seconds into Round 4.
As in September, I once again ran out of gas in the 10th & 11th championship rounds of October & November with this column, but I recovered to complete them and will unleash a few more flurries to close out the 12th and final round.
In the first week of October, Hassan N’Dam won a UD over Curtis Stevens in an eliminator for the right to challenge Jermaine Taylor who defeated aging Sam Soliman to regain the IBF Middleweight title. How Taylor even earned this title shot is another story altogether, but it is all irrelevant as he is now the champion. However he will not have too much time to savor his victory as he has assault and battery charges pending against him and an upcoming court fight that may turn out to be the toughest fight of his life, just when things started to look up for him in boxing, we wish him luck.
