Another exciting night at the Resorts World Casino in Queens, New York with some great matchmaking. The main event went the distance in the light heavyweight division. New York fire fight and local favorite Will “Power” Rosinsky won an 8 round unanimous decision over Dion Savage of Flint, Michigan. Judges scored the bout 80-72; 80-72 and 79-73. There was a lot of toe to toe, short distance action, with Rosinsky backing up Savage trying to open his guard with jabs and uppercuts. Will developed a welt under his right eye.
Rosinsky increases to 19-2, 10 Kos and Savage decreases to 12-7, 6 Ko’s.
Co-Main Event- 10 rounds – Flyweights for the New York State Female Flyweight Championship: Kaiser “Fire” McLeod-Wells of Brooklyn, New York had a unanimous decision victory and winning the vacant New York State flyweight title over Patricia “Boom Boom” Alcivar of Queens, New York. It was much of the same the entire bout. McLeod-Wells circled around Alcivar who for the most part stayed in the center of the ring and tried to get in the inside of McLeod-Wells while McLeod-Wells jabbed her way into Alcivar and jabbing on the fly. Judges scored the bout 100-90; 100-90; 97-93. This is the 2nd time both fighters faced each other. The previous match up McLeod-Wells won a split decision over Alcivar was on March 7, 2012. McLeod-Wells increases to 8-2, 1 Ko and Alcivar decreases to 8-4, 3 Ko’s.
Junior Welterweight – 4 rounds – Jonathan “Maravilla” Alonso of Madrid, Spain vs. Ken Alvarez of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. Round 1 Alvarez backing up Alonso, by round 3 the pace of the fight picked up then became a slug fest. In round 6 Alonso goes to the body and drops Alvarez. Judges scored the fight in favor of Alonso 59-54; 58-55 and 57-56 by Unanimous Decision. Alonso increases to 6-0, 4 ko’s and Alvarez decreases to 6-2-2, 3 Ko’s.
Females – Middleweights 6 Rounds – Alicia “The Empress” Napoleon, of Lindenhurst, New York vs. Melinda Lazar of Budapest, Hungary. Both females with only 1 pro fight under on their record. Napoleon backed up Lazar and unload series of punches while the referee had enough since Lazar was not firing back and stopped the contest at 1 minutes into round 3. Napoleon wins by TKO. Napoleon increases to 2-0, 2 Ko’s and Lazar decreases to 1-1.
Welterweights – 6 rounds – Mikkel LesPierre, of Brooklyn, New York vs Justin Johnson of Pittsburgh, PA. LesPierre developed a welt under his left eye. LesPierre was the aggressor of the two and outbox Johnson. During round 4 LesPierre landed a great left hook and tried to finish off Johnson but Johnson stayed in the game. The judges scored the bout 60-54; 60-54 and 58-56 in favor of LesPierre winner by Unanimous Decision. LesPierre increases to 8-0-1, 3 Kos and Johnson 5-8-4.
Junior Middleweights – 4 Rounds – Two locals, Peter Dobson of the Bronx, New York vs. Ismael Lebron of Hudson, New York. Lebron made was successful in making his pro debut lost in round 2 at 1 minute, 16 seconds. Dobson landed an overhead right followed by a left hook. Dobson goes up to 4-0, 3 Kos and Lebron 0-1.
Junior lightweights – 6 Rounds – Brandon “Eyes Wide” Williams of Rochester, New York vs southpaw Jesus Sandoval of Redwood City, California. The judges scored the bout 57-57; 58-56 and 59-55 in favor of the aggressor Williams who outbox Sandoval and won by majority decision. By the end of round 5 Williams was protecting his eye by keeping his guard up. Both fighters were eating a lot of punches. Williams increased to 8-0-1 and Sandoval decreased to 5-7-3, 1 Ko.
Junior welterweights – 4 Rounds – Marcos Suarez of Bronx, New York [a National and New York Golden Gloves champ] vs. Sidney MacCow of Irvington, New York. I thought this bout was more of a draw. It was continuous back and forth action. All 3 judges scored it 39-37 in favor of Suarez. Suarez increases to 5-0-1, 1 Ko and MacCow decreases to 3-3, 2 Ko’s. By the end of the bout Suarez’s face appeared to be very bruised.
Cruiserweights – 4 Rounds – Joseph “Mad” Williams of Far Rockaway, New York vs. Yushuwa Zadok of Atlanta, Georgia. There is a considerable height difference between the two fighters. Williams is working the body/head and backing up Zadok. In Round 5 Williams set up Zadok with a left hook followed by right hooks. Williams applied the heat and the referee Mark Nelson stepped in and stopped the action at 1 minute, 42 seconds of round 5. Williams victorious by TKO and keeps his perfect record of 6-0, 5 KO’s and Zadok decreases to 2-4-1, 2 Ko’s.
Cruiserweights – 4 Rounds – Pro Debut Mike Marshall of the Bronx, New York vs. Ralph Johnson of Worcester, Massachusetts. Round 3 Johnson is down twice due to painful body shots. The referee stepped in and called halt to the action at 2 minutes at 46 seconds. Marshall gets his first “W” on the books and Johnson 2-6.

As in September, I once again ran out of gas in the 10th & 11th championship rounds of October & November with this column, but I recovered to complete them and will unleash a few more flurries to close out the 12th and final round.
In the first week of October, Hassan N’Dam won a UD over Curtis Stevens in an eliminator for the right to challenge Jermaine Taylor who defeated aging Sam Soliman to regain the IBF Middleweight title. How Taylor even earned this title shot is another story altogether, but it is all irrelevant as he is now the champion. However he will not have too much time to savor his victory as he has assault and battery charges pending against him and an upcoming court fight that may turn out to be the toughest fight of his life, just when things started to look up for him in boxing, we wish him luck.
