Finally Shelly “Shelito” Vincent ring walked as the main event at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island and won by majority decision against Jackie “The Force” Trivilino after an exciting, action, busy nonstop slug fest of 10 rounds. Both fighters continuously throwing punches and coming forward. Swinging. I don’t know how they didn’t punch themselves out. Both fighters were taking unnecessary punches. Vincent was better at defense. Both couldn’t get the knockdown and I was surprised at the strong chins that both had. The belt was on the line and both females wanted same around their waist. In the end the judges scored the bout 95-95; 98-92; 96-94.
Vincent increases her perfect record to 13-0 while Trivilino unfortunately goes the other way 9-9-1.
Angel Camacho Jr. of Johnston, Rhode Island who hasn’t fought since 2011 went up against Paul Gonsalves of Hyannis, Massachusetts. Camacho didn’t appear to have any ring rust. Gonzalez just couldn’t do enough in the ring. And Camacho couldn’t get the knockdown. Camacho the busier of the two, who kept the fight in the center of the ring and outworked Gonsalves. The judges scored the bout for Camacho 58-56; 59-55; 59-55 by UD.
Welterweights Nick DeLomba of Providence, Rhode Island vs. Lazar Stojadinovic of Miami, Florida. During round 3 DeLomba lands a great right hook, then immediately following the end of the round. Round 5 DeLomba goes down and gets the count. To me it appeared to be a slip but the ref started counting. After 6 continuous rounds the judges scored the bout 56-56; 57-55; 58-55 winner DeLomba by majority decision.
Middleweights Khiary Gray-Pitts of Worcester, Massachusetts vs. Vincent Floyd of Philadelphia, PA. Continuously backed Floyd up against the rope. This should have been the co-main event. Floyd a tough kid from Philly. Floyd landed a low blow in round 2. Backed up Floyd to the ropes continuously and went to the body. Pitts was also taking a lot of punches. Both sides could have easily punched themselves out. All three judges scored it the same 40-36 for Gray-Pitts.
Heavyweights Julian Pollard of Brockton, Massachusetts vs. Arthur Saribekian of Providence, R.I. During round 1 a bloody mess over the right eye of Saribekian, which could have been caused by a head butt but not sure. Pollard landed a great overhand right on Saribekian. Saribekian’s corner had seen enough and thrown in the towel. The fight was stopped at 2:41 of round 1. Winner Pollard by TKO.
Middleweights “Prynce” Ray Oliveira Jr. of New Bedford, Massachusetts vs. Mike Rodriguez, with a large height advantage being 6-foot-3 from Springfield, Massachusetts. Round 3 got a little bit crazy with words exchanged. Round 4 started off with fast punches. Oliveira chasing down Rodriguez and kept going to the body. Rodriguez not landing any significant punches. The judges scored the fight in favor of Oliveira by unanimous decision, 39-37; 39-37; 40-36.
Super middleweight and Air Force veteran Zack “Z-Man” Christy vs. Sergio Cabrera of Somerville, Massachusetts. 4 rounds of competitive action from both opponents the judges scored it a draw 38-38; 38-38; 38-38.
Lightweights Scott Sullivan of New Bedford, MA vs. Oscar Bonilla of New Haven, CT. I heard a few whispers before the fight on this was going to be an exciting first bout and they weren’t incorrect. Bonilla continually digging into the body. While doing a 1, 1 2 to the head. Busy fight for both opponents. Great 4th round. After 4 rounds judges scored the bout 39-37; 40-36 and 39-37 for Bonilla.

As in September, I once again ran out of gas in the 10th & 11th championship rounds of October & November with this column, but I recovered to complete them and will unleash a few more flurries to close out the 12th and final round.
In the first week of October, Hassan N’Dam won a UD over Curtis Stevens in an eliminator for the right to challenge Jermaine Taylor who defeated aging Sam Soliman to regain the IBF Middleweight title. How Taylor even earned this title shot is another story altogether, but it is all irrelevant as he is now the champion. However he will not have too much time to savor his victory as he has assault and battery charges pending against him and an upcoming court fight that may turn out to be the toughest fight of his life, just when things started to look up for him in boxing, we wish him luck.
