WBC featherweight champion, Jhonny Gonzalez (55-8, 47 Ko’s), spoke to the Mexican press on Friday afternoon after a public workout at the “Sport City” Gym in Mexico City.
Gonzalez is preparing for the first defense of his title against Clive “Punisher” Atwell (12-0-1, 7 KOs), who comes undefeated from Guyana with the dream of winning the WBC green and gold belt.
This bout will be the main event of a boxing show that Promociones del Pueblo and De Leon Promotions will present next May 24 at the Convention Center of Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico, and will be broadcast around the country by Televisa network.
With only one week left before the fight, Gonzalez is confident to win: “This is what I love to do”, Gonzalez said. “I will be at home, with my people, a normal day for me. I will fight my style. I will be smart, Atwell will not be able to win this fight” Gonzalez ended.
