German Female boxing super star Ina Menzer added another, and reportedly final, chapter to her impressive career on Saturday, August 24, when she captured the World Boxing Federation Womens World Interim Featherweight title at the Warsteiner Hockeypark in her hometown of Moenchengladbach.
In front of 3500 spectators in the open air arena, and millions of viewers live on Europe’s biggest sports broadcaster Eurosport, Menzer put on a convincing performance to win her fourth world title with a unanimous decision over former WBF World Champion Goda Dailydaite.
Born in Kazakhstan, the 32-year-old had proclaimed that this would be her final bout and that she would do everything in her power to leave the sport as world champion, and she did just that by dominating Dailydaite with pressure and excellent skills.
Dailydaite started the fight well, but it would not be long before Menzer was in full control and had the visitor boxing off the back foot. In the early rounds Menzer was very effective with her uppercuts, and it looked like she would be able to finish the fight early when she floored Dailydate twice in round three.
However, Dailydaite proved strong and game, although clearly outboxed, and managed to beat the counts of referee Juergen Langos. She gave it her all, but after ten rounds of boxing there was no doubt who was the victor, as judges Jean Marcel Nartz, Herbert Urich and Rainer Gottwald scored the bout 100-88, 100-88 and 97-92 in favor of Menzer.
Menzer improved her outstanding professional record to 31-1 (11), while Dailydate loses for the first time and drops to 8-1 (2). If the new WBF champion stands firm on retirement, she could not have wished for a better way to end a wonderful career that started in 2004 and saw her go 18-1 in title fights.

As in September, I once again ran out of gas in the 10th & 11th championship rounds of October & November with this column, but I recovered to complete them and will unleash a few more flurries to close out the 12th and final round.
In the first week of October, Hassan N’Dam won a UD over Curtis Stevens in an eliminator for the right to challenge Jermaine Taylor who defeated aging Sam Soliman to regain the IBF Middleweight title. How Taylor even earned this title shot is another story altogether, but it is all irrelevant as he is now the champion. However he will not have too much time to savor his victory as he has assault and battery charges pending against him and an upcoming court fight that may turn out to be the toughest fight of his life, just when things started to look up for him in boxing, we wish him luck.
