LUCAS MATTHYSSE (32-2,30kos) defended his WBC Interim light welterweight title by stopping WBO Latino light welterweight champion MIKE DALLAS JR (19-3-1, 8kos) at the 2:26 mark of the very first round at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas.
There was some controversy before the fight when Mike Dallas’s trainer raised an alarm claiming he had seen someone from Matthyssee’s camp give him some substance speculated to have been amino acids. The commission allowed the fight to continue, but Lucas was scheduled to be tested immediately after the fight to determine if he had taken any illegal substances.
Unlike in the case were the discovery of some illegal hand wraps had dampened the enthusiam of Anthonio Margarito during his fight with Shane Mosley, Matthysee did not allow the drama or mind games from this pre-fight episode to stop him from scorching Dallas with a counter straight right that landed flush, concussively knocking Mike Dallas out cold for the count and for the paramedics and confirming suspicions that he is a brutal heavy handed slugger ready to clear the deck against Danny Garcia for the regular title in a fight that could be made, if ONLY he can only get past his post fight blood test.
Stay Tuned.
