Rodriguez Advances to 20-0-0

On Friday, October 21, 2011, DiBella Entertainment teamed up with The Breast Cancer Charities of America, P3R Publicity and Everlast and presented live professional boxing on SHOBOX at Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Connecticut.   The card was properly entitled “Octoberfist: Fight Night Done Right”.   Because this is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Everlast donated a pink canvas and pink gloves.

The headlined main event consisted of Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez of Worcester, Massachusetts who fought against Will “Power” Rosinsky of Ozone Park, New York.

Both fighters went into this bout with all wins, no losses and no draws. And I’m sure no one wants to loss and have the number “1” next to their record as a loss.  Both fighters came to fight and wanted this win.  If you didn’t catch this fight on ShoBox you need to do what you need to do to view it again.  There was a lot of great fighting action in each round with powerful punches.   At times when Rodriguez came into contact with Rosinsky, Rosinsky just shook his head as if to say “Oh no that’s all you got”.   In Round 7 Rosinsky seems as if he lost his power and in Round 9 both fighters were looking for a KO but none succeed.    At the end of Round 10 it went to the scorecard. All 3 Judges, Clark Sammartino, Glenn Feldman and Peter Hary all scored the bout 100-90 to the winner Rodriguez.  Rodriguez now advances to 20-0-0 and Rosinsky decreases to 14-1-0.    After the announcement of Rodriguez’s victory commotion broke out in the crowd and a fight broke out.  I chatted with a few people after the fight and they felt the fight was closer then the judges scored it and they even thought it could have been a draw.

The 10 round co-main event was for the vacant NABF light welterweight title.    Gabriel “Tito” Bracero of Brooklyn, New York was victorious by UD.  The judges scored the fight 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91.   Bracero advances to  (18-0-0, 3KO’s) and Daniel Sostre of Highland, New York decreases to (11-5-1, 4KO’s). Throughout the bout both fighters were exchanging punches but Bracero came out on top.

Other bouts of the night:

6 Round Super Bantamweights: Luis Rosa vs. Harvey Murray.  Winner Rosa by UD.

6 Round Super featherweights Ryan “Polish Prince” Kielczewski  vs. Willie Villanueva.  All the Judges scored it 60-54 making the winner Kielczewski by UD.

6 Round Super Middleweights: Dyah “Ali” Davis vs. Darnell Boone. Winner Davis UD 59-56, 59-55 and 58-56.

6 Round Junior Welterweights: Danny O’Connor vs. Bryan Abraham. Winner O’Connor by UD. Judges scored it 60-64, 59-54 and 58-54.
