All I need to say is OMG!!! Clarence Tillman (6-5-1) until the end of this year he is definitely a very busy man. He has an abundance of upcoming fights. The first venue was going to take place on October 1, 2010 against Joey Wilson (7-2-1) but that was canceled.
The second venue took place at Panthers Rugby League Club, Penrith, New South Wales, Australia on October 8, 2010. His opponent was Willie Felipe (1-0-0).
The third venue is taking place at ABA Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand on October 23, 2010. His opponent is still unknown.
There is also talk of Clarence fighting on October 30, 2010 and more fights in November 2010 in Australia and Tonga. He should think about getting on the Pacquiao/Margarito card. Why not throw something else in the mix for him and bring Clarence back to the states.
Q. WOW Clarence first I need to say you are truly a warrior. Can you tell me why you did not fight on the October 1, 2010 card against Joey Wilson? The last time you fought him it was back in August 2010.
A. He refused to fight me again…I had him out on his feet in the last round of our bout so I guess he chose to go while he can. But eventually he will have to fight me or stop fighting in this area!
Q. I’m sure it’s hard just to train for one fight but now so many coming up. How is your body handling this?
A. It actually is a good thing for me to fight often. It keeps me sharp. I remember earlier in my career I couldn’t get fights so I’m just happy to fight anytime.
Q. What is your typical day of training?
A. I usually start out with a sprint medley and 2 mile run in the morning and I just recently learned how to swim so I will incorporate that into my training every other day and in the evening I go to the boxing gym.
Q. You are definitely keeping your trainer very busy. Who is training you?
A. Ron Foley. My next fight will be our first together I really like his way of doing things.
Q. Do you prefer fighting fights one after the other or giving your body a rest?
A. I like to keep busy. I got a late start as a pro so I need on the job training. I can rest when I die!!
Q. Have you had any title matches or any of your upcoming matches title matches?
A. Not yet but I’ll be fighting for the IBF Australasian title in December if all go according to plan and the NZ title as well.
Q. The fight that took place on October 8, 2010 had mostly all MMA action on the card. MMA is definitely exciting to watch. How did you feel being about being the only boxing bout on the card?
A. Well when I arrived I was informed that it was a modified muay thai fight with boxing rules. Which meant I couldn’t wear shoes I almost killed the guy and got a draw…lol…Needless to say EFG promotions will never have to worry about me fighting on their cards again.
Q. You lived and boxed in the United States. Do you see any differences boxing in New Zealand vs. the United States?
A. The biggest difference over here is that they actually fight each other and don’t protect a record.
Q. Will you be heading back to the United States to fight any time soon?
A. I hope to fight in the states in Jan/Feb and head back to NZ in March. I will be working with a few promoters back in Louisiana, Arizona and in Indiana so hopefully I can get in a fight or 2.
Q. How old were you when you got into boxing and what made you pick this sport?
A. About 12 years old but once I started playing football that took precedence. After college I played a few more years then went back to the boxing gym to lose weight and the rest is history.
Q. What was your amateur record?
A. 37-6. I fought out of Houston, TX.
Q. What do you want to tell all your fans out there?
A. Keep watching I will always deliver entertaining fights!!!
